SIX AREAS OF ACTION

Achieving our vision requires a systems-wide transformation that addresses our colonial legacy and anticipates new threats like climate change and rapid biodiversity loss.  Our vision is focused on six integrated areas of action – culture, diet, policy, environment, economy and technology.

Our vision and change process are grounded in the need to address past and ongoing impacts of colonialism on the people, the land, the water and sky, by changing the story about Prairie food systems. At the heart of this new story are the principles of kwayēskastasowin (making things right) wâhkôhtowin (by recognizing everything and everyone is related).

Establishing new food systems on the Prairies requires a wide range of measures. As illustrated in our food systems map (below), there are many lines of action necessary to build healthy, just and regenerative food systems.
