Grazing for Grain Growers: You Don't Need Livestock

  • SaskSoil Zoom Saskatchewan Canada (map)

Join SaskSoil for a conversation with Lyndsey Smith, agriculture communicator (RealAgriculture.com) and co-founder of Shady Creek Lamb Co. Lyndsey and her partner Chris Moore have spent nine seasons grazing utility-scale solar sites across Ontario — and four years working with grain farmers to extend the grazing season well into winter using grain ground. The results have been a win for both the land and the producers involved.

What you'll learn

  • How targeted grazing on grain ground works — and what it looks like in practice

  • What soil health benefits producers have seen from winter grazing on crop fields

  • How grain farmers can connect with graziers — without taking on livestock themselves

About the speaker
Lyndsey Smith is an agriculture communicator, broadcaster, and sheep farmer based in Ottawa, Ontario, with roots in Manitoba and a brief (but memorable) stint in Saskatchewan.
