Manitoba Organics is excited to announce that our second farm tour of the year will be hosted in collaboration with OPAM, featuring producer, Zack Koscielny, owner-operator at Green Beach Farm & Food.
About Zack: "My name is Zack Koscielny and I am an owner-operator at Green Beach Farm & Food. Currently, I am on the farm full time, while the rest of my family is on the farm part time. Growing up, our farm was called Salt Lake Charolais, as we were primarily breeders of pure bred Charolais cattle. We have since evolved into a commercial cow-calf operation with substantial direct market sales of grass fed beef and naturally raised pork with plans of adding certified organic grains in 2020.
Growing up on a farm was an incredible experience that I consider myself lucky to have enjoyed. This farm life left me with a deep passion for both agriculture & the environment and led me to a degree in Agroecology at the University of Manitoba. At the time..."

10:00 - 10:15am: Welcome and Networking.
Kickstart the day with coffee, snacks, and a chance to connect with fellow attendees.
10:15am - 12:00pm: Visiting the fields.
After gathering, we'll carpool to a guided tour of the farm’s fields. Join us for an in-depth look at Zack's farming practices including grain polycropping, mixed cover cropping, and integrated grazing on his grain and cattle operation. We will also review insights from the ongoing soil benchmarking project and share key findings from the work so far.
12:00 - 1:00pm: Lunch.
After the field tours, we'll head back to our gathering point and break for lunch. If you have dietary restrictions or require accommodations, kindly let us know when you register.
1:00 - 2:00pm: Guest Speaker - Ian Cook, Grassland Conservation Manager, Birds Canada.
After lunch, we’ll venture out for one last field tour, this time with a focus on birdlife. Learn about the role of birds in sustainable farming and wildlife conservation.
