Clay and Climate Workshop with KC Adams

KC Adams will guide participants through a hands-on clay workshop exploring how working with clay can connect us to the land and to each other. This workshop is a little different from our normal From Root to Sky programming and is open to everyone, all ages, and no prior experience is needed.

This is a drop-in style event, so feel free to come and go as needed. Please register so we can plan for the number of participants.

  • 2 hour clay workshop led by KC Adams (3:30-5:30pm)

  • Dinner will be provided for all participants (5:30-6:30pm)

  • Stick around for Art City’s Indigenous Art Program! (6:30-8:30pm)

From Root to Sky
From Root to Sky is a climate-centred program created to foster kinship and community among racialized and marginalized communities by promoting wellness and healing through art, storytelling, and other spiritual and land-based practices. 

KC Adams
KC Adams (Ininnew/Anishinaabe/British) is a registered Fisher River Cree Nation member living in Winnipeg. KC is a relational maker, educator, activist, and mentor who creates work that explores technology in relation to her Indigenous culture. Adams is an award-winning, nationally and internationally known maker with a B.F.A. from Concordia University and an M.A. in Cultural Studies, Curatorial Stream from the University of Winnipeg. KC has had numerous solo and group exhibitions, residencies and three biennales.

Art City
Art City is a not-for-profit community centre run by artists, dedicated to providing people of all ages with innovative and professional art programming, free of charge. Art City’s primary purpose is to provide access and support for anyone wishing to express themselves creatively.

Accessibility
This event is open to everyone! We’re so excited to see you!

Art City has a street-level front entrance with accessible doors and no stairs. Programming will take place on the main floor, which is wheelchair accessible. There is one gender-neutral washroom, on the main floor; this washroom is wheelchair accessible. Art City is a 2SLGBTQA+ friendly space and you can read the Safer Space and Accessibility Policies here.

Busses D14 and D15 stop directly beside and in front of Art City. Bus tickets are available upon request.

If you are not feeling well, please stay home so we can keep everyone healthy.

⁠We also understand that childcare can be a barrier to attending community events. This space is open to kids and participants of all ages!⁠
